Here are the services I provide.

WHO AM I?

Hello!

I am passionate about the analysis of human behavior. I chose to work with families to empower them by passing on my knowledge and the best possible tools.

I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and hold a Masters of Art in Professional Behavior Analysis from the Florida Institute of Technology. My interests include the therapeutic alliance, parent training, and ACT training.

With over 7 years of experience in clinical and consultative roles, I have learned the cornerstones for success are: the use of scientifically proven interventions, empathy, and a strong social validity (i.e. your feelings regarding the process). I supervised a parent training program serving over 60 families a year at Miriam Home. Since September 2022, I apply my knowledge to a clientele with various needs at the CLSC Côte-des-neiges (ADHD, head trauma, behavioral disorders, abuse and maltreatment prevention).

During the weekend, I enjoy climbing with friends, bike riding or reading a good thriller.

Mon approche: l’ABA

My approach: ABA

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the application of the science of behavior. Behaviors emitted by an individual are mostly learned and result from the interaction between the individual and the environment. By varying certain factors, we can modify them. This science allows us to reliably predict how behaviors will evolve according to these environmental variations.

The goal here is to increase adaptive behaviors, allowing the individual to develop to their full potential. This can be achieved sometimes by reducing problematic behaviors, which can prevent the individual from acquiring certain skills, and cause obstacles to his or her development. In this situation, we are developing other skills that render the problematic behavior unnecessary. If your child is asking for your attention when you cook and throw tantrums, we can teach him how to play independently, then give him a lot of praise and love at the end!

Today, in the field of ABA , we strive to create learning contexts that the person appreciates. The proposed follow-ups are based on the following values: listening, joy, security, trust, and compassion.

FAQ

To help you in your efforts, here are the answers to the most commonly asked questions.

A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is a person who has completed approved graduate level courses (master’s degree), extensive supervised training in behavior analysis and passed a rigorous examination to become certified. “Although there are no formal regulations to practice in Quebec, the QcABA advocates the services of those with a certification (from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board; BACB) as minimum qualifications to supervise behavioral programs in Quebec. The BACB is an internationally recognized association that issues regulations for the training and supervision of behavior analysts” (see QCABA web site)

The BCBA consultant (also called supervisor, clinical supervisor, program manager, etc.) is the person who oversees and supervises the therapy program, trains staff or parents in the parent training, creates the curriculum, and analyzes the data to evaluate the effectiveness of the program. A consultant is essential to any quality ABA program, as direct staffs are generally not qualified to manage, supervise or analyze the effectiveness of an ABA therapy program.

Unfortunately, most insurances do not cover it in Quebec. Many provinces in Canada such as Ontario or New Brunswick do, as well as in the United States.

The parent or the caregiver is generally the main partner and you will be asked to implement the intervention program at home. You will be actively involved during the sessions. This involvement also includes data collection during the evaluation and intervention. We will work as a team to ensure your child’s success!

The first step is to try to address the issue with your BCBA. If this step does not result in a resolution of the problem and you feel the BCBA has committed an ethical violation, you can address any dispute on the BACB website.
